We organize dogs into groups according to their size and behavior, ensuring that whether your dog is playful and social or enjoys a more tranquil setting, we have an ideal space for them. Your dog will benefit from a full day of supervised interaction with other dogs that share similar sizes and temperaments. Our facility features both indoor and outdoor play areas.
At The Barking Lot, our daycare offers much more than simply being a safe and enjoyable place for your dog while you’re at work. We approach each day as if it’s the most thrilling experience! Our open-play (off-leash) environment allows your dog to feel secure and cherished while they develop important social skills. We also provide three spacious playrooms designed to separate dogs based on their size, temperament, and play style, ensuring that every pup is safe and at ease. As your dog matures and gains confidence, they may be moved to different playrooms reflecting their evolving preferences.
Our playrooms have been thoughtfully created with your furry companion in mind. Rubberized flooring throughout the areas helps cushion your dog’s paws and joints during playtime with their friends. We regularly clean our playrooms during the day using pet-safe cleaning products that are gentle for both your dog and the environment. Each room is thoroughly sanitized every night once daycare ends.
Benefits of enrolling your dog in daycare include:
- Building confidence
- Socialization
- Exercise
- Learning basic commands
- Physical and mental stimulation
- Relief from anxiety
Before your dog can join us for daycare, we conduct a Bark Test (intake assessment) at no cost to evaluate their compatibility with our facility. This 30-minute assessment involves your dog meeting our staff, familiarizing themselves with our facility, and interacting with current daycare dogs. Please plan accordingly as owners must remain present during the initial part of this intake assessment. On the day of the assessment, we ask that you leave your dog with us for at least two hours (if you like you can stay for this but are free to leave). To accurately gauge your dog’s behavior without your presence, completing this assessment is essential. If your dog meets our behavioural and social standards and enjoys interacting with others, we’ll be delighted to welcome them to our daycare.
ASSESSMENTS ARE CONDUCTED BY APPOINTMENT ONLY AND CAN BE SCHEDULED MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY BETWEEN 9:00 AM AND 2:00 PM. IF YOU NEED AN APPOINTMENT OUTSIDE THESE HOURS, PLEASE REACH OUT TO US FOR ARRANGEMENTS.
Recognizing the importance of early socialization, we accept puppies as young as 8 weeks, provided they have been cleared by a veterinarian. For the safety of all pets and their owners, all dogs must be current with essential vaccinations or possess valid titre certificates (proof of immunity). Pet owners are required to present proof of vaccinations upon registration.
The required vaccinations for dogs entering our facility include:
- Rabies
- DHPP (Distemper/Hepatitis/Parvovirus/Parainfluenza)
- Bordetella (Kennel cough, Canine Adenovirus-2, Parainfluenza)
We encourage you to share any additional information about your dog’s habits and/or personality that will help us better understand their needs.
